From 1 April 2023, NHS Gloucestershire has taken on responsibility for commissioning (planning and buying) community pharmacy, optometry (eye) and dental services.
These services have previously been managed by NHS England South West. However, managing these services locally from April will allow the NHS in Gloucestershire and our One Gloucestershire partners to consider how we can best serve our local population, leading to better outcomes and experiences for patients and valuing and making best use of the expertise of our staff.
We are working with colleagues at NHS England South West to ensure a smooth transition, and we’ll share more information with you about our plans in the coming weeks and months.
